A statement was released by Reedpop in the ECCC website on 06 March 2020, moving the event to a secure date in summer of 2020. It is in the best interest of attendees, exhibitors and guests; according to ECCC.
Reedpop previously stated that if there are risks, they will adhere to the government and health official’s guidelines.
“We have been closely monitoring the situation around the COVID-19 virus in Seattle, and, after many hours of conversation internally and consultation with local government officials and the tourism bureau, we have decided to move next week’s Emerald City Comic Con to Summer 2020 with date and detail announcement forthcoming. We did everything that we could to run the event as planned, but ultimately, we are following the guidance of the local public health officials indicating that conventions should now be postponed.”
Publishers and guests had already pulled out of the events because of the ongoing concerns over the CoVid-19.
Fans can refund their tickets with no further actions needed. But Reedpop also calls for everyone’s patience as there may be some delays on receiving refund due to volume of requests.
Date for the event is still to be determined. We will be monitoring the progress and updates in their website for additional information.
